Capturing Tofino’s magic

Branding a force of nature on Canada’s west coast.

The previous Tofino logo was static and conventional, and did nothing to communicate the awesome power and beauty of this magical place.

If you’ve ever been to Tofino, you’ll know how the area’s natural beauty can take your breath away. And that’s not even on a stormy day. In a nutshell, this is what Tourism Tofino asked us to encapsulate into a new brand. That, and the sense of fun and laid back nature inherent in the community. We looked at it six ways from Sunday and in the end, we narrowed down the look to a single, hand-rendered wordmark created by Alice Young. Applications of the brand included visual identity and marketing collateral.
